June 20th - What is the way out of this dilemma?

Since my ramblings began in March I think I've found a SIMPLE answer to what's gone wrong in our world:
We have developed an economic system,  supported by social and political institutions, which cannot continue because the planet is not able to provide the resources for the growth on which it depends. It is a system which breeds inequality, which is depleting the resources of the planet and which fails to make happy even those who 'have it all'. As if that isn't enough the system is rapidly leading to the destruction of the natural environment on which life depends.
So, I'm now going to try to find a SIMPLE answer to the second question:  How can we change direction?  For change we certainly must. As Oliver James author of 'Affluenza' says 'Business as usual is not an option'; and Tim Jackson says we have a dilemma -  'Trash the system or crash the planet.'  Scarey aint it?
But, with guidance from Monty Python's  'Always look on the bright side of life' and taking comfort from Tim Jackson's assertion that  'we are a clever species (sometimes)' I'm looking at what is being suggested as the way forward. Yep, must think about that next ...
